Sketch: African Nile Crocodile

Crocodiles and alligators are so scary.  They always seem so confident and proud...and powerful.

Speed

The zing of the treads reaches my ears
The rumble of the wheel reaches my hands

The wind whispers in my ears,
                   plays with my hair,
                         stings my eyes.

The wind caresses my skin,
              buffets my clothes,
                    stirs my blood.

   The speed is exhilerating.
The contol...is intoxicating.

Cat Dream

His tail flicks up and down.  It is just the tip of his tail that flicks up and down, up and down.  It moves more slowly up then speeds back down.  His ear twitches as he relaxes and starts to doze, forgetting his worries that she would force him to move so she could steal his spot.  His paws twitch as he slips deeper into sleep, imagining stalking those bushy-tailed creatures.

He can see sun shining through the leaves, the shadows dancing across the ground.  The bushy-tailed thing is sitting on its back paws, looking at something in its front paws.

He stalks closer.  He can hear the leaves rustle and crackle as the bushy drops onto its front paws and begins to rustle through them.  He picks up speed.  He can hear the leaves rustle as he rushes past them, but the bushy cannot hear this over its own noise.  He is close enough to smell it now.  Just a little closer and he can grab it…

He gets rolled out of his place, lands on his paws, and shakes himself.  She came to steal his spot.

Sketch: Angry Cat

01-24-2011
Pencil is an awesome medium of expression.  The ease of shading and blending make it entertaining and rewarding.  The alterability, almost fragility, of its presentation is beautiful…even if the resulting sketch is less than desirable.
